Burmese Panther MP3 Snippets:
I’ve always regarded my first 3 CD releases as a “trilogy”– that is, a 3-volume set in which I explore the big tent of American roots music that I think of as “Steel String Americana”.
This new CD is NOT volume 4 of that series… but rather, a straight-up jazz record. For fans of the acoustic guitar orientation of the earlier recordings, this might be a bit of a curveball. Kinda like if your favorite Italian restaurant hired a new chef, and started serving Hunan dishes… but kept the same name on the sign out front. You liked the food the old kitchen turned out. But how will you know if you like the new dishes they’re now serving?
That’s why I created this page. On it, you’ll find 1.5 to 2.5 minute snippets of each of the 9 tunes on the new CD. Taste ‘em, and see if you like ‘em, before sitting down to a full meal. Don’t you wish every restaurant worked like that?
